BLIND TIGER COCKTAILS & ENTERTAINMENT TO PROVIDE WORLD CLASS COCKTAILS AT DAR FASHION FESTIVAL
Blind Tiger Cocktails & Entertainment, Dar es Salaam’s newest and most refined cocktail experience, has been invited by the very first Dar Fashion Festival to create an exquisitely opulent cocktail, exclusively for the fashion festival itself.
To be unveiled this Thursday at the festival’s opening Woman’s Worth event, the cocktail recipe has been kept firmly under wraps, revealing only that it will be luscious and feminine, pink and sweet. The heavenly cocktail, fit for a fashion goddess, will be served alongside its non-alcoholic mocktail counterpart, which promises to be equally divine.
Also served throughout the festival will be a brand new cocktail, Sweet Tanzanite - a luxurious and chic addition to the classic menu. Ensuring that non-drinkers will also remain enviably en vogue, Apricot Bellinis and other sumptuous mocktails, exclusive to Blind Tiger, will be on offer.
WHY ARE WE CALLED BLIND TIGER?
Blind Tiger Cocktails & Entertainment provide not only sublime cocktails, but the glamour and sophistication of an era gone by, together with quality music and entertainment, as would have been enjoyed at Blind Tigers almost 100 years ago...
The Prohibition era of the United States sprawled the 1920’s & 30’s, and Speakeasies (drinking taverns) boomed. Their customers would pay to see an attraction, such as a performer (world greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Josephine Baker and Louis Armstrong would make their names at such establishments), or a ferocious wild animal, tamed through being blinded, and would be given a “complimentary” gin cocktail. Hence, Speakeasies became known as Blind Tigers.
Blind Tigers were some of the very first establishments in the US where people of colour could drink freely without discrimination, and contributed greatly to the Harlem Renaissance. It was during this time that Malcom X and Al Capone painted the town red at sophisticated and sexy Blind Tiger parties throughout New York, and where cocktails and music and performance played a central role. This remarkable history undoubtedly reflects the outstanding professional services that Blind Tiger Cocktails & Entertainment provide, and is the inspiration behind Tanzania’s most exciting new brand.
